A round positive insert provides economic advantages due to the ability to index the insert a few times; consequently reducing the cost of the machined rings.
The insert is produced with a positive chipbreaker and reinforced cutting edge that resists the rough turning operations of the bearing steel rings. The insert can also be used for turning and profiling race way grooves of ball bearing rings on CNC machines.
As shown in the attached short video, the unique design of the tool allows directing the chip into the spindle for easy chip evacuation from the back side of the spindle on single task machines, which are very popular in the transfer line production of bearing rings.
